Keep on keeping on

I know my updates have been pretty boring, so I would like to thank everyone who is still reading.  I like to blog for a couple of reasons.  I blog to keep myself accountable.  I blog to document my ‘running days’ so that when I’m old and not so mobile, I can take a look back.  I blog to share my experiences with family and friends.  I blog to share my experiences with other runners.  And I blog to hopefully inspire/motivate other people who may wish to start a new fitness journey.  I have only been running for a few years, so I know if I can do it anyone can.

Monday

Generally on Monday evenings, Sam and I like to go to the gym for the 7:00 yoga class.  We have been trying to figure out how to minimize our time away from our kids and decided that we would start doing yoga in Sam’s basement and invite the girls to join us!  Makayla was at a friends house (and is really not into working out) so she declined, but since Gabby’s swim practice was cancelled due to the snow, she was all in.  Lilee joined us as well.  I found a yoga P90X disk and we decided to do 45 minutes of the hour and a half long disk.  It was pretty challenging, although I found it to be a bit repetitive.  I was really surprised the kids didn’t get bored immediately.  They actually made it to the end!  I prefer the class at the gym, but in a pinch, the DVD will suffice.  We are going to look around and see if we can find some other yoga DVDs (they are so cheap nowadays) that way we can alternate them each week.  We may also see if we can find some online.

Tuesday

After dropping Gabby off at swim practice, I headed for the gym.  Screenshot_2016-02-18-19-05-24It has been so crowded lately, but I was able to get a treadmill and knock out my 3 miles.  I think I started a little too fast because by the end of mile 1 I was pretty winded and had to cut back the pace a bit.  I also walked for a minute after mile 2.  It was SOO hot in the gym and they didn’t have clean towels (again).  Not a great run, but I’ll take it.  Apparently Steven had made it to the gym before I left and I didn’t even notice him on the treadmills.  Oops!  I tend to zone out when I’m working out.  I just blast my music and play mental games to make the time go by, but I would have thought I would notice my own husband!

Wednesday

On Wednesday evening I headed to body pump.  Another crowded class!  I’m starting to feel like I’m getting back into my body pump groove.  I was a little sore afterwards, but not too bad.  I will probably increase my weights after another week or so.

Thursday

I set my alarm for 4:45 a.m. but I didn’t have high expectations that I would get out of bed.  I thought I would be sore from pump and too tired.

Yes, I’m fully aware I look like a maniac.  Give me a break…it was 5:50 a.m. and I just finished a difficult 3 miler.

But, I reluctantly got up when it went off this time!!  I didn’t actually crawl out of bed until closer to 5:00, but I made it to the gym before work!  I am not a morning person and I don’t love early morning runs, but on a positive note, I got my workout in early and didn’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.  I had an okay run.  I had planned to run somewhere between 3 and 4 miles.  Due to time constraints, I ended up having to stop at 3.  Truth be told, I was sort of glad.  I just wasn’t feeling it again today.  I sure hope I have a better run on Sunday.  I’m shooting for 6 miles! I’m getting really excited about the upcoming Shamrock race.  I have started looking at the course maps to try to come up with a plan to see Steven and Sam on their marathon course.  I think it’s going to work out perfectly.  Since they start 1.5 hours after me, I *think* by the time I finish the half, get cooled down, and walk back to my hotel, they should be getting ready to pass right in front of my hotel.  I couldn’t have planned it more perfectly!  I hope it all works out.  I’d love to see them and then be able to jump in the shower and still have time to see them again on the course and then be back to the finish line to watch them cross.

QOTD – Do you still do any DVD (or even VHS) workouts?  Which ones?
