Not that I’m counting or anything. Let’s start with the hip update. Physical therapy is going well, but I’ve had a bit of a set-back. Nothing major (I don’t think). I scheduled an early morning appointment last Friday (7:00 a.m. on my day off – ughh) so that I could get some Christmas shopping done afterwards. Steven and I headed to downtown Annapolis and did some shopping and then continued our shopping at the mall. By the time we were at the mall, I started getting very frustrated because my walk was most definitely slowing down (anyone who knows me that I like to walk fast and with purpose) and I was experiencing a bit more pain than usual. Very frustrating. I was happy to get some shopping done, but I have been paying for it ever since. I’m not back to square one by ANY means, but I did regress a bit. I had a PT appointment tonight and I have another one Friday morning. I hope to be back where I was by the weekend. I have a company Christmas party to attend Friday night so I’m a little worried I will over-do it again, but I’m going to try not to. With free food, free booze, and fun co-workers, you just never know what’s going to happen though.
I thought it would be fun to reflect on each of my races from 2015 and try to summarize each race in one sentence:
DC Rock N Roll Half Marathon: Miserably cold and rainy, but surrounded by family and friends who were equally miserable.
Shamrock Half Marathon: Scenic finish line and a fun family weekend.
Run for Hospice: Another family event that we ran in honor of Bubbies & Poppy Bud!
Pax River Earth Day 5k: Lunchtime solo race on base and an unofficial 5k PR.
GW Classic Parkway 10-Miler: Stunning course that I’d love to race again.
Leatherneck 5K: Lots of wonderful raffle prizes and another beautiful course, even if the shirt has a misspelling ;o)
Frederick Running Festival 5k: Twilight run where Sam and I crushed a super steep hill
Frederick Running Festival Half Marathon: Downtown Frederick is a beautiful place to run, but those last 3 miles were TOUGH!
Superhero Half Marathon: Fun anniversary getaway and fun to dress up as a superhero, but humidity made this race miserable.
Burst of Color 5k: Yellow cornstarch in the face!
Crawlin Crab 5k: Seriously fun 5k with the bestie.
Crawlin Crab Half Marathon: Fantastic race weekend and a race I’d love to run again.
Marine Corps Marathon 10k: Crowded and boring course, but loved the marines ;o)
10k across the Bay: Fun course, but crowded post-race party.
Richmond Half Marathon: Beautiful town and nice race, but unfortunately my memory will always be tainted by my injury.
There you have it. 2015 was a year full of fun races and lots of fun training runs. I can’t wait to get back out there! Stay tuned for my 2016 plan 🙂
QOTD: What has been your favorite race this year and why?
I have a couple favorites, Run for Hospice simply because it was my first real race. I actually proved to myself I could do more then walk it.(and I came in third) The 10k Across the Bay was next, I’ve walked it before but never dreamed I would run it.
