Hola Amigos! I hope your week is going well. While the main point of this blog was to document my running journey, I will also be sharing some other happenings in my life. This just happens to be a fabulous week so I will be sharing LOTS of “extra stuff” this week and this post will probably be longer than I expect future posts to be. Please bear with me 🙂
MONDAY
As I mentioned in my last blog post, I did not plan a workout for Monday. You know why? Because Sam and I took our daughters to see TAYLOR FREAKING SWIFT at the Nationals Stadium. And she put on a spectacular show. I enjoyed it just as much as my girls did!!
We got to the stadium around 6:00 and got some food. Then of course, we had to buy the girls some Tay Tay shirts
Up until this point, we only knew that Vance Joy was opening up for Taylor. We weren’t in our seats yet at 7:00 when the first act started performing. To the girls surprise, it was Shawn Mendes. Both older girls start crying like teenagers do for whatever reason and we quickly made it to our seats to watch the rest of his set. After Shawn Mendes’ performance, Vance Joy took the stage. He played a quick set that we all enjoyed although we only knew one of the songs (Riptide). Up next was Haim. Those girls are very talented and I really enjoyed their set. Finally, around 9:30, Taylor took the stage!
Makayla burst into tears of joy and Gabby was super excited as well. We sang and danced all night. Lilee was very tired but popped right up when special guest, Lorde, took the stage with Taylor to sing “Royals”. Lilee didn’t last much longer and ended up falling asleep, but the other 3 girls continued to sing and dance the night away. The show finally wrapped up around 11:45!
We waited a VERY long time for the metro and then still had an hour long drive home, so we didn’t get home until a little after 2:00 in the morning!
TUESDAY
The workout plan for Tuesday was to run 4 miles before work. Well…since we didn’t get home until after 2:00 in the morning, that didn’t quite work out. The girls and I slept in late and then I got up and went into work late. When I left work, I had to go directly to Gabby’s swim meet. I LOVE watching Gabby swim. She is a natural in the water!! Pappy, Steven, and I were at this meet and we watched her swim freestyle, IM, and Breast. She improved her times in all events and won a heat ribbon in IM!! Way to go, Gabby!
She finished her last event around 8:45 and I decided I better go to the gym and hit the treadmill to run my 4 miles. I do not typically start any workouts this late at night so I had no idea how I would do. By the time I got there, it was after 9:00. I met Sam, who was already a couple miles into her workout, so I took the treadmill beside her. We chatted a bit and then put in our ear buds to get us through. I didn’t push myself super hard and I didn’t run any inclines. I was just trying to get the mileage in. I actually didn’t mind the late night workout. I was really surprised at just how many people were in the gym at 10:00 when I was leaving. Who knew it was such a happening place on a Tuesday night?
WEDNESDAY
Time for some cross-training. I went to Body Pump at the gym as planned tonight. Sam decided to get some extra mileage in and ran to the gym while I drove her daughter and myself to the class in her car (my van is in the shop). I felt pretty strong tonight. I love our Wednesday night instructor! Tonight was the first time Sam’s daughter took the class with us. She said she liked it. I can’t wait to see how she feels tomorrow 🙂
So far, I’ve had a great week and I’ve gotten all my workouts in as planned. I plan to check in again on Sunday with a recap of the rest of the week. Until then…have a great week!
What is your favorite concert you have ever been to?
Nellie Furtado! Still dreaming about seeing Mary J Blige though.
